Documenting a DC Block Requirement for Procurement

SMA coaxial DC block on a laboratory bench with CentronRF watermark

Specify construction type, impedance, connector genders, RF passband, maximum insertion loss, matching limit and working voltage. Add RF power and pulse requirements where applicable.

How it works in practice

Request the lower frequency explicitly when a listing gives only an upper limit. State which conductor must be blocked and whether shield continuity is required. Include the installation environment and any applicable mounting constraints. Resolve conflicting descriptions before choosing an equivalent.

Example and interpretation

A requirement for an '8 GHz SMA block' is incomplete without its lower frequency, voltage rating and blocking topology.

Checks before use

  • Define the blocked conductor
  • State full frequency band
  • State voltage and power
  • Request the current datasheet

Important limit

Do not treat an incomplete product title as a complete engineering specification.
