A continuity check can indicate whether the intended conductor is blocked, but it does not establish voltage withstand or RF performance. Understand the block's internal paths first.
How it works in practice
A capacitor may briefly show charging behavior on a resistance meter before appearing open. Shield continuity depends on whether the design is inner, outer or inner-outer. Discharge and disconnect the component according to its instructions before testing. Use documented acceptance methods for insulation qualification.
Example and interpretation
An inner-only block can show an open center path and a continuous shield; that is not inherently a fault.
Checks before use
- Identify the block type
- Remove power and discharge safely
- Check the intended paths
- Verify RF performance separately
Important limit
Do not use an arbitrary high-voltage test that may damage the blocking capacitor.
