Replace an element only when the protector is explicitly designed for field replacement, using the specified replacement part and procedure.
How it works in practice
Nominal discharge voltage is only one parameter; mechanical fit, impulse behavior and RF construction also matter. Remove power and follow isolation instructions. Reassemble with the specified seals and fastening method, then perform the recommended checks. If field replacement is unsupported, replace the assembly.
Example and interpretation
A same-voltage tube from another source is not automatically a qualified substitute for the original element.
Checks before use
- Check serviceability
- Identify the exact replacement
- Follow isolation and assembly steps
- Verify after servicing
Important limit
Do not improvise a replacement based only on voltage marking.
